Before You Press Record

To avoid making this common mistake, you must first ask yourself what the purpose of your video is.

Ask this question before creating every video.

Each video you create should have one or two specific goals.

Knowing what you want to accomplish with each video will help not only you but the viewers as well.

When you know the purpose of your video, you will be able to avoid this common mistakes video marketers make.

You Have To Ask

According to Steven Rachel, most new video marketers don't ask for money, or they don't give directions at the end of the video.

That's commonly referred to as call-to-action or CTA.

At the end of each video, you want to give clear directions on what you wish your viewer to do next.

Call To Action Examples

Here are some examples Steven shared in our interview:

1 - Ask Them To Call You.

"For more information, give me a phone call at xxx".

You can recite your phone number or have it on the screen or both.

2 - Direct them to your website.
"Go to my website: www.mywebsite.com for more information."

You can embed the link to your website in the video or add it to the video description.

3 - Invite them to get more information via email.

"Fill out the form to get (Insert name of your lead magnet)."

This way, you will capture the viewers' email address, which will allow you to follow up using your email marketing system.

Whatever it is or wherever you want your viewer to go, you need to verbally instruct them to do it.

Tell your video viewers what to do next, and they will typically follow your instruction.

Tell The Viewer The Next Step

Instinctively, as adults, we like to know what's next.

So, if you give us a call-to-action, we typically will follow those instructions.

A call-to-action increases the effectiveness of your videos.

Don't just end your video, you are missing out on a great opportunity to build your email list and make more sales.

If the goal of your video is for people to visit your website, join your email list or even follow you on social media, at the end of the video give them a specific call to action.

You'll be amazed by the results you will get by just letting people know what you want them to do next.

A lot of them will just do it.
